Kaw River Canoe Workshop

Lawrence, Kansas 2016 & 2017

A Social Practice Art project that emphasizes the importance and shared nature of water resources. Kaw River Canoe Workshop invited 12-16 participants to harvest bamboo poles from local groves,  lash them to canoe frameworks, and eventually skin the vessels with recycled grocery bags.  A call to action considering how our behaviors impact on our environment, the workshop culminated in a journey of 8 canoes making their way 1.5 miles down the Kaw River.
